Avoid double-counting overlapping scopes. A whole-house renovation benchmark can already include work that also appears as a separate kitchen, bathroom, flooring or decorating line. Use the planner for distinct packages, or remove overlapping lines before relying on the combined total.

This planner uses the same published benchmark layer as the regional comparison tool. Regional factors and contingency are UK Home Costs planning assumptions, not observed local quote averages.

When to use this planner

Use the planner when a programme contains several distinct packages — for example a roof replacement, rewiring and a driveway — and you want one broad budget before collecting detailed quotes. Open the linked cost guide for each line when you need to check the underlying benchmark.

Do not add overlapping scopes twice

Whole-house renovation or new-build benchmarks can already contain work that also appears as separate kitchen, bathroom, flooring, decorating or trade lines. The planner deliberately leaves that judgement with you rather than silently trying to remove overlaps.

Contingency

Contingency is applied after the selected project ranges are combined. It is a user-controlled planning allowance, not a sourced prediction that the project will overrun by that percentage.
